Im 21 Years Young, Been A Fire Buff For Around 11 Years & Still Going Strong. I became involved with the fire service at a very young age, hanging around the firehouse with my uncle Al Wehr who was a Seekonk Firefighter/Police Officer (Now Retired), Im A Volunteer Firefighter in the town of Warren assigned to Ladder 1. Been Taking Photos for about 3 years now since a 6 Alarm Fire In Somerville Massachusetts in November 2006, Worked 10+ Years At North Kingstown Animal Hospital As A Surgery, X-Ray, & Treatment Tech , After I Left NK, I Worked At Kitty Corner Cat Clinic In Newport, Also Did Work For Providence Housing As A Security Guard At Dexter Manor & Parenti Villa, & New England Ambulance Dispatch Office.

House Fire In North Providence

At Thirty One minutes after midnight on Sunday dispatcher Vernacio received a call from a town resident reporting smoke coming from a neighboring house in the area of 5 Vireo Street which runs from Woodward Road to Nemo Street, Subsequently the vocals opened up "attention Engine's 4,3,2 Ladder 1, Squad 1, Rescue 2 & Battalion 1 a still box". Engine 4 arrived first due and reported a "Code Red" with heavy smoke showing from a two story unoccupied wood frame dwelling and a aggressive interior attack was initiated with a heavy fire condition on the first floor possibly extending into floor two, Engine 1 & Rescue 1 responded on the fill in assignment. Crews on the fireground stretched three lines which made quick work of the fire in about twenty minutes leaving an extensive overhaul operation which lasted into the early morning hours. Providence Engine 7, Ladder 4 & Pawtucket Engine 5 responded mutual aid for coverage during the fire, The Providence Canteen along with numerous citywide members responded also. Two firefighters were evaluated and transported from their respective stations with minor injuries to area hospitals, The state fire marshals investigating the cause of the fire due to the residents being out of town at the time of the fire.

Vacant House Burns In Providence

At 19:10 on Sunday evening the Providence fire alarm office dispatched Engine's 8,3,11 Tower's 2&1 and Battalion 2 to the vicinity of 40 Arch Street which runs from Elmwood Avenue to Gilmore Street for a reported building fire. Battalion 2 reported heavy smoke from a distance as Rescue 1 arrived at 42 Arch Street and reported a heavily involved three story vacant wood frame, Engine 14 (safety) Ladder 6 (fast) Engine 7 / Air Supply & Rescue 4 responded on the working fire assignment. At 19:14 Battalion 2 arrived and transmitted a second alarm due to fire conditions and a potential exposure problem on side four, Engine's 10, 6 Ladder 5 & Division 1 responded on the second alarm as special hazards cleared a gas leak and took in the job. Incident command ordered a emergency evacuation of the building as heavy fire took hold of the upper floors and cockloft, Engine's 6 & 10 along with special called ladder 8 responded to Wilson Street to gain access to the rear of the fire building and setup for a exterior operation while fire alarm relocated Engine 2 & Ladder 7 to the Atwells Avenue firehouse. Firefighters remained defensive for about a half hour before the heavy fire was knocked back and interior crews could reenter for an extensive overhaul operation. Two firefighters were injured during the fire, the special signal canteen arrived to provide refreshment for the first responders. The fire is under investigation by the fire prevention office.

Commercial Structure Fire In Henderson Nevada

Shortly after 16:30 on Tuesday Evening Henderson Fire Rescue dispatched Station's 81,83,82,86,95,97,98 Clark County Station 17 & Battalion 9 to 894 South Boulder Highway at Palo Verde Drive for a reported commercial structure fire in the Smith's Plaza. The officer of Engine 81 out of the College Drive station reported "smoke showing" on arrival from the China inn restaurant and setup command as the crew of second due Engine 83 out of the Burkholder Boulevard station arrived and dropped their own supply line and ran a mattydale to the interior for fire suppression, Tower 82 arrived and setup the bucket and ground ladders for egress and began to vent the roof. Upon further investigation interior crews uncovered fire in the vent system in the kitchen area with extension to the void space between the drop ceiling and roof decking and the crew of Engine 81 stretched a second line off 83 via a side two ground ladder and assisted members from the tower on the roof while additional firefighters stretched a third line into the building via side one. quint 99 stood by as the FAST truck, the fire was knocked down within a half hour with extensive damage to the kitchen area. The fire marshal arrived to begin investigations as well as the Clark county building inspector no injuries were reported during the fire.

Police Officer Killed In Early Morning Wreck

At 01:15 On Saturday Morning Providence Fire Alarm dispatched Engine 12 & Rescue 6 to in front of 573 Academy Avenue for a motor vehicle accident, Engine 12 arrived minutes later and requested the jaws for the driver who was pinned in the car, Special Hazards, Ladder 3 & Rescue 2 responded. Engine 12 extricated the passenger who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with head trauma, The second patient was extricated shortly thereafter by members from Ladder 3 and also transported to the trauma center. Peter Rocchio a veteran police officer who was off duty at the time was pronounced deceased at the hospital, the condition of the second patient is unknown at this time.

Afternoon Garage Fire In Pawtucket

At 12:02 Engine 5 was dispatched to 810 Mineral Spring Avenue in the Fairlawn section of the city for a report of brush burning, on arrival Engine 5 requested the balance of a working fire assignment for fire in a garage behind a occupied three decker. Engine's 2,1 Tower Ladder 1 Rescue 1 & the Battalion responded while on scene crews ran a line for fire suppression. Members made good progress having the visible fire knocked down using tank water in about ten minutes, The single story two bay garage was heavily damaged along with a vehicle that was parked inside. No injuries were reported The recall was sounded at 12:55.

Thanks things have been slow in this area (a good thing) so on the few quick stops I have been on I have been focusing on the guys and working more with black and white. B/W is great for the overhaul and faces shots but still prefer color for fire.

It is with deepest regret that we announce the line of duty death (LODD) of Captain Frank Quetta, Ladder 2, Group C.

Frank, a loyal member of Local 799, was appointed to the Providence Fire Department in April 1979. Frank passed peacefully at approximately 1 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A department funeral with full honors is planned. Details to follow.

From 09:00-10:00 (8-15-08) Friday Morning The North Providence Fire Department Is Switching From 154.25 To The Old Police Channel 154.800. The Department Will Be Following The Police To A Digital System Shortly.

On Monday June 23rd Providence Police Went To There New Digital 800 System As Of 07:00, All Channels Are Encrypted & Cannot Be Heard.

Providence Fire Will Follow Shortly Into The 800 System, Unknown If They Will Be Encrypted At This Time, Should Be Operational By August 1st.
