Early in the morning on April first Milton Firefighters were dispatched on Box 24 for 685 Brush Hill Road for a reported structure fire. On arrival a quick second alarm was struck for heavy fire in a large three story colonial followed by a third alarm. Heavy fire conditions on floor two extending vertically into the third floor and cockloft forcing the fireground operation to switch to defensive and large lines were stretched in, Deck guns and large stream appliances flowed water into the large three story building command struck a fourth alarm as heavy fire vented thru the roof. Multiple handlines and deckguns contained the fire to the main fire building without extension to out buildings in the rear, Mutual aid from Boston, Canton, and other surrounding departments assisted Milton Control the fire which was knocked down in about two hours of the initial dispatch, No injuries were reported the building was heavily damaged.
It is with deepest regret that we announce the line of duty death (LODD) of Captain Frank Quetta, Ladder 2, Group C.
Frank, a loyal member of Local 799, was appointed to the Providence Fire Department in April 1979. Frank passed peacefully at approximately 1 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A department funeral with full honors is planned. Details to follow.
